Personally I think anything you get from Hancock's of Paducah is incredible quality, at least that's been my experience. Also another place I get my wide backing from is Marshalls Dry Goods I've paid as little as $3.49 a yard for excellent quality fabric by Mary Fons selection is not very large with those but you can't beat the price.

I don't know about Hancocks of Paducah, but I bought some 108" backing fabric at a quilt show last weekend that I really liked for $29.25. If you can find them at a show, they discount it $6.00 for two backings. You can buy it online through this website:

They have 206 fabrics to choose from. I bought two very saturated-color backings and washed them right away to see if they were bleeders. They didn't bleed, and I like the feel of the fabric even after I washed them.
The amount of fabric in three yards of 108"-wide fabric equals 7.75 yards of 42" fabric. I don't always use backing fabric for the back. It cuts up nicely just like 42"-wide fabric. With the show discount the fabric cost me less than $3.50 per yard of 42"-wide fabric.
