    Unhappy 2 Dark HST...so sad

So I was sewing with reckless abandon making half square triangles using up scraps. Now I have about 50 hst which is OK but when I made them, they are totally scrappy. Meaning two colors in each each block. Since brain was not engaged did not sew light to dark or white to color. No idea how to use these. Did a google search and didn't find a pic using similiar blocks. All those quilts have light to dark or white to color

Any suggestions how to tame down these blocks? Maybe I'll just make a dog quilt for Linda's new dog....

dogs don't care ;-) you can save them, and throw in the odd block now and then on some scrappy project, or maybe use them randomly spaced on the back of a quilt. Perhaps frame them in a lighter or darker color. all is not lost ;-)

I saw a scrap quilt in a magazine lately done with HST. They were just as you have made. It looked good. Just throw them together and enjoy it.

just lay them out on your bed on a solid sheet or bed cover and put them together. Alternate light and dark and see what happens. I'm betting it'll be just fine.

Could you put a white or cream colored square next to each block and maybe make 9 patch blocks?

If all of them are dark, they will show as a square. You could make some 9 patch blocks using 5 of your HST and sew them with 4 light scrappy squares.

You are not required to sew lights to dark, many quilt blocks can use HSTs in various formats, mediums/darks/etc. Just lay them out in various ways and see what you can create.

Try using a white or cream square around each of the half square triangle blocks. Or sash the blocks with white or cream. I think that would look cute.
