    I have4 a 201, 1941 vintage, sometimes this will happen if the thread is not seated properly between the tension discs, you do need to adjust your tension for free motion quilting.

    Changing the tension settings and needle didn't help. Setting the stitch length to zero DID. I still have lots of practicing to do before I am confident enough to begin on the quilt, but at least the machine is sewing now.

    Wow, it really made that much difference? I'm going to have to remember that! I played around with FMQ on one of my 201's, but it wasn't nearly as smooth as with my 15's, so I haven't done much more with it. Glad you're up and running! :)
