Changing the tension settings and needle didn't help. Setting the stitch length to zero DID. I still have lots of practicing to do before I am confident enough to begin on the quilt, but at least the machine is sewing now.

Wow, it really made that much difference? I'm going to have to remember that! I played around with FMQ on one of my 201's, but it wasn't nearly as smooth as with my 15's, so I haven't done much more with it. Glad you're up and running! :)
