I like Jan's idea - Do not cut triangles for it. Instead do the method of starting with 2 squares and producing 2 HST squares.
If you decide to do D9P keep the center square consistent to provide some unity for the quilt.

How about a Carpenters Wheel/Star? Here is a table of sizes:

2 inch finished squares = 24 inch square quilt.
3 inch finished squares = 36 inch square quilt.
4 inch finished squares = 48 inch square quilt.
5 inch finished squares = 60 inch square quilt.
6 inch finished squares = 72 inch square quilt.
7 inch finished squares = 84 inch square quilt.
8 inch finished squares = 96 inch square quilt.
9 inch finished squares = 108 inch square quilt.

I would do a quilt and if you have about 72 squares you can make a really cool fabric cube that little kids and pets love. I have made three of them so far. they are really easy. http://missgioia.com/2007/03/patchwo...-tutorial.html I have done them scrappyish also. just kinda put similar colors and patterns together. it was really cool.
