Trying to do pattern called Sunset by Julie Popa and instructions are to us a rotary ruler marked with 45 degree angle. What kind of ruler is this? I tried using my long 24" one but the piece doesn't come out the right length. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated I'm so frustrated right nowl.

It isossible with the long ruler. I suggest you contact the tutor as it is possible to do the 45 in different ways . She may also have a favourite ruler she would like you to use. If she says use the long ruler you need visual instructions .

Nearly every ruler I have has a 45 degree angle line marked on it. Maybe you're just not seeing the line on your ruler?

my cutting mat has 45 and 60 degree lines on it. I use them with my ruler. It works well.

Make sure you are using the correct line on your ruler. I have several rulers marked with 30°, 45°, and 60° lines. If you accidentally use the wrong one, your pieces won't match.

A 45° angle is half of a 90° angle.

Almost all regular rulers have a 45* mark. I use a June Taylor Shape cut for most of my cutting, but any brand will have this line, as do most cutting mats, but they may not all be as accurate, so your ruler is a better choice.
