I just tried using 505 spray basting for the first time. I am so disappointed. This brand has been recommended on many posts/ topics by many people. I do not know what I did wrong but I found that I had to use almost a 6.5 oz can to baste a 70 x 90 quilt. I bought it from Connecting Threads for about $6/can since I could not find it locally. I may not use this again due to it seems expensive at $6/can per small nap quilt. I can pin cheaper even it it is not convenient when FMQ. Any ideas as to why I had to use so much? Other ideas?

I don't know why you had to use so much, defective can? I have the June Tailor brand from Joann's here and I really do not like it. It smells terrible and gives me a headache even with the windows open. I find it does not do as well as pinning the quilt. Pinning is more work, but I prefer it to using that stuff. My needle on my machine get gunked up with it which is also annoying.

I've used several different brands and only like Sullivan's, which comes in a pink can- I get it at Hancock's Fabrics, and I think Hobby Lobby carries it too. I can get 3-4 large quilts out of one can- the key is not to use too much. It's great stuff.
