Hello Quilters, I am wondering how useful is the 60 degree ruler or rather are there different patterns for it's use? If you've made a quilt using this or know of a pattern using this ruler would you please show me? I have only seen one block sewn using two 2 1/2 inch strips sewn together and not a whole quilt top. In case I don't respond to each individually, thank you in advance, you all are always so informative and helpful.

60 degrees are what are used for Hexes among other things. I've used it for a clown hat, but that's probably just me on that one.

If you do a search on 60 degree quilt ruler patterns you will find many more ideas than I have.

Edit: Sure, you can do a One Block Wonder without one... but it's better with!

I am currently doing a tumbling block pattern. It uses diamond shapes with 60° angles.

I made Boomerang by Jaybird Quilts, as Feline Fanatic said, she has a lot of designs that use the 60 degree Ruler, I love triangles in quilts in any degree. They add a wonderful element beyond squares and rectangles and also provide a challenge for those who like to learn new techniques.

I think that 60* is one of the most versatile shape in quilting right behind squares, rectangles and triangles.

I agree with Tartan. Also be aware that there are different types of 60 degree rulers. Some show the measurements along the side, while others measure from base to point. You sometimes need the different measurements for different patterns. Also some have a blunted tip, while others have a sharp tip, and there are reasons for both.

oh my it’s all so confusing😩I was looking at the 8 1/2 inch 60 degree triangle I think from Creative Grid , the one that not supposed to slip. Is that a good one? Is that the one used in the quilt above from tallchick?

I can't get pictures to post since the change in the website, but google "not your grandmother's flower garden" quilt images and those all use 60 degree Triangles.
