You're so right about that Grann. There's a big difference between someone who comes here only to vent or cause disention and those who love the site and all the good folks here and just need to vent once in a while.

I so agree with you! Not only is everyone eagerly willing to share, there is no competition, no one-up-manship going on. I joined my local quilt guild and it was nothing but the 'elite' who were popular and noticed. The rest of us were just there to ooh and aah and pay our dues. I don't have a lot of time to quilt right now but when I do I know this board will become even more dear and valuable to me, if that's possible!

It's not that this is a super modern bells and whistles site, its not that its easy to find things, or even navigate. The reason it works so well here is because we have a common passion. We all have multi dimentional lives, we come from diverse backgrounds, but we share 1 passion, we can come together on 1 point so well it shows us what we have in common, not what we have as differences. And, when we meet on 1 point we little by little see we are more alike than diffrent in many ways.
I wish the whole dang country quilted! They need to put home ec and shop back into high schools - that more than anything brings kids into the real world, shows then their commonality, lets them find their 1 point. (other then its us vs the adults! lol) sharet

I'm addicted - absolutely addicted to this site. Found it by accident about 3 months ago and can't believe I found such a great group of quilters. I absolutely LOVE this site - and it is so refreshing not to have to BUY anything.

I come to this site because I feel that I have friends here even though I have never met any of you. None of my sisters understand this passion; they love my finished quilts, but don't get into my love of fabric and seeing the quilt take shape. Due to my disability, I don't get out much and don't have any quilting guilds or such around here that I could join. So you guys are literally a lifeline for me. You are better than xanax and so what if there are those naysayers here. They are all around us in life and make us the diverse group that we are.
