Default Can a Spicy Spiral be made narrower?

I love the shape of the Spicy Spiral from School House Quilts but it is too wide for our entry table. Has anyone made it narrower or shorter? Do I change each strata by 1/2 inch or take out one strata and if so, which strata should be eliminated? Do all strata have to be the various sizes stated on the pattern to make it work? I have made two so far following the pattern, but neither work where I want it.

If you use a smaller ruler to cut the wedges it will come out smaller overall. Other than that I can't help, sorry!
I used a 10 degree ruler and it came out quite a bit larger than the 9 degree, so maybe going to 8 or 7 degrees would be enough?

I think the varying sizes of the wedges is what makes it look unique too.

I think if you skip the first few larger wedges and start from a smaller size it should come out narrower. Take one that you have made and match up the wedges (maybe skipping the center 5 on each side), lay it out and see how it fits. I hope this is clearer than mud! If you find that this is the size that you need, I would also leave off the first or last color in the strata since you won't be cutting wedges long enough to use the eighth color. This SHOULD make it narrower and shorter. Good luck! Ann

Contact Phillips fiber art..isn't that the designer? I'm sure she will help you figure out how to make it narrower without losing the effect of the design......
