I use contrasting threads that coordinate with the quilt, or you can use the same color thread. The buttons also add a little weight so the quilt hangs well.

Here's an example of a bound border with seed bead detail.
I love your idea of adding embellishments. Thanks for the picture.

Wow, I never thought to mount the quilt on artist canvas. I love all the ideas coming my way! Thank you!

I have never faced a quilt but I sure will check this link out. Thank you!

Very good point about the quilting affecting the border.

I made up the design out of my imagination after taking a workshop from Amy Stewart Windsor that Our guild sponsored. If I could walk into a fabric neighborhood, I would want a quilt shop, my house and a church! ....and of course kitty cats!

The wonky houses (cute cute cute) screams for a fun border. I would put a black with white dots or black and white checkerboard border with yellow piping. A simple black binding.

I wouldn't add a border. Everything doesn't need a border. The quilt will tell you; sometimes a border, sometimes a border on only the top and bottom; sometimes a border on only the sides . . . and sometimes no border at all! Your Wonky Houses is absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn't add a thing. I'd try to fiend teal blue fabric as close to your background as possible and bind it. Trust me on this. You won't go wrong!

Love this adorable wall hanging! It will be beautiful with or without a border.......but personally, I would add a light border with dark binding. Can't wait to see a pic of this piece finished.

I would add a yellow framing border and then a border of a pale teal and a stripe binding. Love the little houses
