I thought the same thing, they don't have cheap prices.

this site sells most of their fabs for $2.99 per yard. they can cram 27-28 yards into the big flat rate box. although they sell lots of the same fabs walmart did/does, the Red Rooster brand - which is much nicer - is also only $2.99.

also, i saw countless fabs at thousandsofbolts.com for under $5 per yard. a significant portion are under $4. they just added a new search feature. you can search by theme within each color. guess who dropped a bundle there yesterday?

Another favorite of mine is fabric.com. They just ran a great sale on quilting fabric (just ended a few minutes ago).

I was also going to suggest Fabrics.com...I just ordered lots of fabric at $3.95 a yard...
Yes I know that some have had problems with them...I have not...I order regularly and have had only 1 problem, called and they reshipped the item asap. The problem was that it was a flannel baby panel and it was cut wonky. The had me keep the wonky one...
Most cuts from them are at least a couple of inches larger. They would rather give you an inch than to short you.

If you have an ALCO store close by, the fabric there is name brand, Jenny Beyer, Marcus Brs. RJR, Thimbleberries, Northcott, Blank, Red Rooster, and many others. It is 5 yard flat folds. Their prices have gone up from last year for fabric but they have a 50% off sale every so often. Some Alco's don't carry fabric though.

Here is a link to an Alco store locator. It's worth driving to one for a 50% sale.

Connecting threads is my new obsession website quality fabric and wonderful prices!! Fat quarter shop is great as well, though I find their prices to be a bit higher, however, quality, customer service, and quick ship times still make them a go to place for me!! (when I can afford it!)

Still trying to find the flannel that I want BUT wanted to pass on that they are being very helpful.

Not only are we quilters losing out with the closing of the fabric dept. but so are the fabric companies and fabric mills. This may be a way to still buy fabric at reasonable prices, especially for those who can't always spend big $$$ for fabric.
    Thank you for this information.

Patrice, thanks for that link. That looks like a good site and they ship overseas which is great. Just wish I could feel the fabrics before I place an order as that's so important to me.

Sounds like you've been happy with Red Rooster brand. I haven't heard of it before - may I ask what you like about it?

Thank you so much for letting people know about this site. The fabric is really neat and you can't beat the prices.
