I haven't done much since right after Christmas. Actually, today is the first day I want to do some quilting and fabric touching. This happens to me about once every year or two. I think many of us are over achievers who really do need to take breaks. We are too hard on ourselves!!!!! I don't know about you all, but I am one of the few people I know who make many if not most of my Christmas gifts. That takes a lot of time, energy and planning! No wonder we need to rest to recharge!

No you're not. I'm having a really difficult time making myself go into the sewingroom. I can be in the livingroom thinking I should be then just sit there watching tv or staying on the computer. I've been trying to peice the same quilt top for weeks. It is getting done a block or two at at time. I figure one of these days the urge will kick in and I will get to going again.

Give yourself a break! Rest and recuperate for a while, If you have to force yourself to to any hobby it soon becomes work and ceases to be your relaxation and enjoyment! Wait until you retire, it may all come back! Close the door and let it go. Enjoy each of your days while not sewing, by doing something you do enjoy and live each day like it was your last! Have fun!

I live with my oldest daughter and family. My room has 3 machines, diamond, topaz, singer. When I get up their are sitting there staring at me. I started working on linen napkins, first is on ironing board, I guess it isn't going to do it buy it self. Well, if I leave it there maybe it will shame me into doing something. DD and I share fabric room. She has her qm set up. We run back and forth to see what and if we have done anything. So it seem from alll the post you are not alone. It will get better or I will have to open fabric store.

I find that when I get on the computer, I don't get any sewing done. Through this board I've found many patterns that I've printed and now I have so many I'm overwhelmed. I want to do them all and when I'm overwhelmed, I don't get anything done. QB is so entertaining and enlightening but I usually spend way too much time here and then when I finally walk away, I don't have time to quilt. I need to set time limits on how long I can hang out here. I've read QB for 3 hours at a time. I think that's too much. But I love everything about this board. It's the first thing I do in the morning, along with my cups of coffee.

Do like everyone suggests - look at the patterns and online, but leave the rest till you are fully retired.
I retired 1.5 years ago and initially was a quilting nut, finishing something like 12 small and mid size quilts in 6 months. Then I hit the wall, so I stopped for about 3 months - doing nothing but looking online at the QB and patterns and magazines. Finally saw something different I had never done (a US Flag bargatello(sp?), so started to cut that out. Got it 1/2 finished and found two other quilts I wanted to make so started to cut those out. Then petered out on all 3 and decided to just cut squares and strips out of scraps.
Signed up for a class on Stack & Whack, and finished one! Then a second top for my daughter! Now I'm stuck again. There is no perfect solution for the doldrums.....just wait awhile and keep looking. Eventually something will get those creative juices flowing again and you will wonder what was all the fuss about.
