When piecing, have you tried the edge stitching foot? It has a flange on the right side of the foot. You just run the edge of the fabric along that edge---straight seams.

Here is a link to the Husqvarna Viking Site page that shows this particular foot.

Been sewing since I was twelve...can nail a 5/8" seam with my eyes closed. Have all the bells & whistles needed for a perfect 1/4" seam and it ain't going to happen. I blame my astigmatism and I gave it to my tools.

You know, i will be going along straight just fine and as soon as I think about it, there it goes. When I get done I go back to that place and fix it. We are all like this I think.

I can't sew a straight line to save my life. Come to think of it, I can't draw a straight line.
Heck! I doubt I could walk a straight line!

You may be sewing too fast. The feed dogs pull the fabric unevenly and if you are sewing too fast, you can't steer the fabric accurately. If you have a speed reducer, use that.

The old saying goes... straight as the crow flys...hmmmm. a crow dips to the right and left the entire time it flys. Not really noticible but when you look at it in slow motion you can really see it. SEWWW...is there such an animal as a straight line...LOL not in my house.

This has been an encouraging post. I struggle with the straight line all the time! It's good to not feel alone. I am trying zippers now and that straight line will never happen there....wish I could blame it on the machine....oh well

I'm joining that one. Got a Viking and still couldn;t do a straight line. I just make adjustments to the pattern or know it won't be straight. Noone has complained yet and No Quilt Police have come to my door....LOL
