Ami Simms Quilt Initiative
#1
I belong to a quilt guild and it has been our tradition to gift the out going president with a quilt made by guild members. This year's president has graciously asked that, instead of being gifted with a quilt for herself, would each guild member subit a small art quilt to the Ami Simms Quilt Initiative. This is a nationwide project that is raising funds for Alzheimers Deisease. All proceeds from this project is ear marked for research. I thought you might enjoy visiting the website. These art quilts are amazing!

This website says that project has finnished. However, Ami Simms is always doing more for alzheimers. Her mom had it and Ami cared for her the last several years of her life.

Also ... for clarification ... the monthly Quilt Auctions and the small art Quilts for Sale are two separate entities. The small art quilts are priced and can be purchased by anyone at any time. The auctions run monthly.

See if you can watch that video. I think you have to register on the site. I watched it and it was really nice. They showed a lot of the little quilts that are on display in the exhibit.
They were all kinds, just kept to 8 1/2 x 11 to fit flat in a mailing envelope. Some put in the traveling exhibit and the rest sold.
