Antique Singer Sewing Machine
#1
Can someone tell me where I can find out about my Antique sewing machine. I do not have the manual for it. It folds down into an oak stand. There is plate on the front of it with a number not sure if this is the serial number for it or not. I thought maybe there was a website that I could pull up the information on it by using that number but I can not seem to find one. Thanks

There is a very good thread here for all vintage machines:

Everyone is so knowledgeable, there is bound to be someone who can answer all your questions.

Hi there... yes, if it's a Singer. There is a ton of info out there on the machine. If the plate you are mentioning is on the bed of the machine, and it's a number or letter/number combination of 8 or so digits, then it's the Singer serial number. The website will give you the month/year of the allotment it was made in. And if records are available, it can also tell you what it believes the base model number is.
If the number plaque is on the pillar of the machine, either on it's own brass plaque on the front pillar, or written on the top of the stitch length plate... then that is the model number of the machine. (again, if it's a Singer).
If you post a picture of the front/back... it's likely that we can help you identify it.
Good luck!
