Anyone ever cut up a 1600 quilt?

Kathleen, I can certainly see why your quilt has won awards. I love your idea of the appliqued trees WOWZERS! I personally have never seen a 1600 Quilt that has encouraged me to make one, speed yes, candy to the eye no. Yours has certainly changed my perspective!

I like Peggy's idea. But my husband and I agree we both like the last two shown on page 6. I have several jelly rolls laying around. I started on but I didn't like how it was going so I got out my trusty seam ripper and went to town.....LOL

Yes. I did not like how mine turned out, so I cut it again and made a postage stamp quilt.

WOW Peggi, What a difference cutting a 1600 into strips! I'm so encouraged now with pictures posted by you and Kathleen I'm now impressed enough to give a 1600 a go...certainly a fast quilt but the end results to my eye were nothing I wanted to make...Now with this thread and the pictures (I'm so visual) I'm inspired to make one of these!

I made a 1600 quilt out of a jelly roll that was given to me. I didn't really like the jelly roll to begin with and I like it even less now that it is a 1600 quilt. I was going to donate it and can't bring myself to finish it because I don't like it. I will have to cut it up, maybe I will like it more. I have thought about cutting it up but never did. Good idea. I love yours.
What a GREAT idea Cynthia I was going to make myself a comfort wrap today as a matter of fact and I love your idea!! If it went well for me making the comfort wrap I was going to start making them for donation as my "Give Back" for 2013...I certainly have enough stash to make many, many....

I'm currently working on a Jelly Roll Quilt. Mine is really pastel light blue, tan and white. So I put a border on it and I made a tree out of some fabric that looks like bark. Than I made an owl to sit on the brand. I will post a picture once it is done.

I like it much better cut and resewn also. I think jelly roll quilts don't look quite completed. I like the idea of them being a background for something else. Like the Christmas trees. Just my opinion. Really like your colours!

I'm going to do something completely different with mine. I'll post pics when I get it finished, but right now I'm in the middle of unsewing (that's your only hint)!
