I prefer Eleanor Burns method of 8 at a time then square up using her ruler that requires ONE cut to square up. Simple and perfect HSTs every time. Cut large sqs, draw x , sew down both sides, cut for 8 hst. For 1 1/2 in use 4 in squares for 2 1/2 use 6in sqs. Just add 2 in for each size up.

!!!! My ruler got mixed up with some throw away papers and bags. (it's thin and lightweight) and it's gone. Trash pick up has already came. I ordered another one from Amazon as the LQS is over an hour away. The pictures of how to use it will have to wait a little bit. DH promises he will never take out the trash in my sewing room again. LOL

I have the Fons and Porter ruler for half and quarter square triangles. BUT - I don't like sewing on the diagonal (that would be bias, right?). And this one is sewing on the cut diagonal. No math though, I like that.
Have considered the Wonder Cut ruler. I can sew straight seams all day long. Like that you sew first THEN cut.
Like this one as well, even though it means sewing on the diagonal. It is still a square when you sew on the diagonal - and I can follow lines well.
Hmmmm...am going to be thinking about this one (as well as the Wonder Cut). Looking forward to seeing your pictures, Bella Boo, when you get your replacement ruler!

Were you just at my LQS? LOL. Just had the demo there last week. Don't know if I would use it. I have a major like for the HST paper.
This marking tool was demoed at a nearby LQS. It was one of the better hst marking rulers in terms of being easy and faster to use. Of course I bought one. LOL.

I printed out the diagram on the link because it has all the measurements listed in such a handy way. YAY!
