Yes, I have, but Norton was replaced by other security software. The tech guy said Norton was well known for causing 'internal conflict' within a great many computers. It was causing blue screen on an almost daily basis and made the system virtually useless as a result. Haven't blue screened since Norton moved out. :D

I'm not at all convinced that what's happening is any kind of bug at our end of things. We'll see if Patrice is able to find anything out from Admin's investigation, but it's just too coincidental that it's happening to a number of us on this board as well as groups of people on other boards as well. Thursday was the last time it happened to me...immediately after I posted my first comment on this thread and mentioned the name of the offending advertiser. Coincidence?

that's a pretty good indication that the advertiser is the source and culprit. the offending adware must be very cleverly written.

i use symantec, which is a Norton product (i think). i'm always logged onto the board, so my computer is always here even when i am not. i haven't had the problem. (knock on wood and wood byproducts.)

fingers crossed i didn't just jinx myself.

Actually Norton is a Symantec product, but I get what you mean. After I'm done working tonight, I'll scrub the entire system again and see if anything shows up this time. Thanks.

No problems here, maybe you could ask admin if there is trouble anywhere else

the problem is definitely not coming from our board. if it was, we'd all have it.

i know the question has been referred to the techs because i sent it in myself. i don't know whether or not they'll be able to track down any information that will help fix it.

I think you may have malware on your computer. I had one that was trying to sell me their anti virus program and I had to contact justanswer.com. which is a company that links a number of experts in particular fields to help. In this case, I was able to eventually remove the malware but it does cost. I didn't, however, have to take my computer in for repair.

btw, i had norton, which didn't even detect the malware. i had to go thru 3 different online antivirus programs to finally get rid of it. unfortunately, the company accessed my charge card info and billed me for what they say is their anti virus program. i quickly changed my card.
