    Default Gloves for protection

Just been relaxing and watching a few You Tube quilting videos. My question is how many of you quilters use the gloves that always seem to be shown on the Fons and Porter clips when the presenters cut their fabric? They always look so clumsy. I like to feel the material and the equipment so I'm afraid I could never use them whilst cutting fabric.

I do not use gloves when cutting fabric -- I try to be real careful so as not to accidently cut myself. I have tried on the gloves that are on F&P and they feel awkward and are way to big for me.

I DO wear gloves when machine quilting -- I have the garden gloves that have the neoprene (sticky stuff) on the fingers. I can get the small size and I can manipulate the fabric without a problem and with no strain for my hands.

The many many years that I have been quilting. I've never used one. I don't know, when those gloves, came out. But I was quilting long before that. And I don't think, I'll ever use them(1).

No gloves for me. I did get some yoga gloves (non-slip) for quilting . . . but even those aggravate me. Guess I'm just not a glove person.

Nope, I pay attention to what I'm doing. Gloves - particularly the Klutz gloves seem so cumbersome that I am sure to injure myself some other way.

I thought I didn't need a Klutz glove until the day I sliced off part of my finger. Hindsight is always 20/20. It was worth the price and when I use my rotary cutter, I put on the Klutz glove. I think of it like putting on my seatbelt in the car. I just do it automatically now. It's amazing how fast you can cut your finger.

I use quilting gloves for the grip, mainly because my hands are always so dry. Most of my cutting is done with an anchored t-square, and I learned when I was a kid in shop class to always make sure I know where my fingers are before I cut. But around sharp instruments, it wouldnt' hurt to use those I guess.
