Anyone use the Ruler foot and ruler templates to quilt on domestic machine?

I ordered this today: http://www.nancysnotions.com/product...emplate+set.do
I have a long arm set up but rarely use it because I don't like the hassle of putting the quilt on the frame. Sad but true. I like the sit down quilting so much better. I do good work with straight line quilting but it's limited. I have been reading blogs about the ruler template quilting and decided to see for myself.

Once I got my longarm, I have NEVER wanted to do the quilting on my DSM. Just trying to imagine what it is that's so awkward/cumbersome/irritating that's keeping you from using your machine?
And then, if you're not using it, and end up liking using your DSM better, you should sell it. LA's take up SO much space, if I didn't love mine to pieces, it would be GONE!!

Sophie,
To see pics of quilts quilted using rulers
check out Amy Johnson's blog on:
amysquiltingadventures.com
Also look up Amy Johnson on YouTube. She does a lot of quilting with rulers at her sit down domestic sewing machine. She's a fantastic teacher. She also has a sampler quilt that she's been working on for a while and the combination of ruler work and regular fmq that she has done on it is fantastic.

After getting my westalee templates and compared prices, It was a good deal. It came with templates (10),3 gliders, wax for polishing table and machine foot for my Brother. $114.00. Now I've got to take time to FMQ.

MaciacQuilter2, I'm with you. Looks like it would take 3 hands to use rulers with a domestic machine. Guess I need to watch some videos to see how people do it. But, I probably wouldn't be trying it as me and my longarm get along great.

Yep, got the convertible ruler foot for my Janome 6600P and am looking at Patsy Thomson and Amy Johnson's videos
I am on a limited budget and don't think I need to invest in a Craftsy class since these videos are free and can also be watched over and over again.

The ruler moves the fabric, the same as moving it before without the rulers. I never had a problem with moving the fabric and using the ruler. My problem right now is keeping the thread from breaking. Seems this happens when I start a new project and eventually stops if I make changes or not. So frustrating.

To katier825, in case you come back to read this... what foot are you using for the Juki 2010Q? That's the machine I have. To be honest, haven't done much research on this but now I'm very curious. Craftsy is having a half-off sale this weekend so I think I'll sign up for that ruler class... LOL I don't need much enabling!
