Bless you for restraining your temper! I agree that you should try to clean and salvage the affected blocks. If they stay discolored, use them together as a tea-dyed table topper.

I guess I was so upset by the incident I wasn't thinking! I will salvage the pieces from the sewing trash can when I get home tonight from work. Thank you all for the info on cleaning!!

I have had to make that same rule a few times! I hope you can salvage them.

How sad. The rule at our house has always been no food or drinks except in the kitchen and the dining room. There is no reason for it. After all, it only takes a second to walk in to the kitchen to get a drink.

I would take them out of the trash and soak them in cold water. Then air dry, press, and use them. It will wash out when you wash the quilt.

Good luck to you. :) Go give your daughter a hug.

Tea is a natural dye. I would have thrown the pieces in the trash also (or maybe saved them for a scrap quilt where the changes in color would not be a problem).

Thanks for listening to me vent,

Exactly the reason I don't allow any food or drinks in my sewing room. Besides if I have to get up to get a drink, it's better for my back and neck

Good news! I salvaged the pieces from the trash and soaked them in cold water with borax. They came clean! The pieces were dried, starched, pressed and ready to go. I am doing the happy dance!!
    THANK YOU ALL!!
