Pul (polyurethane laminate) is a waterproof fabric that is available at Joann, or on Amazon and is used to make the diaper covers that are waterproof. Now it comes in neat designs as well as plain colors. There are many uses for it.

It is recommended that you air dry it or use a very low heat on the dryer.

I'm frugal. I used old bath towels (frayed edges) and cut bibs from the good part when my boys were little. I bound (bias tape) or zigzag-stitched the edges. These laundered well and dried quickly in the dryer. As they got older (feeding themselves--often very messy), I made them wider and longer to protect their clothes. These are very quick to make. For my grandsons, I used one I'd saved from my sons as a quick cutting pattern.
