I also think the binding may be the problem. I have also had this problem when the edge quilting was not as heavy as the rest. Whichever is the problem, I think it unlikely it will bother your great nephew, who will surely love the quilt.

I am seeing all horizontal quilting. If this is correct, it might be the cause. If you can block the quilt, it may help somewhat. To block a quilt, you need to wet it, and then lay it out and pull the edges so that they are straight on all sides. It then needs to be secured until dried.

I think it's adorable! Love the pattern and the changes you made to be for a 2nd child. Is the batting cotton and have you washed it? When it's washed, especially if you have used cotton batting, it might lie differently. If it were me, I wouldn't take the binding off unless you really feel strongly that it's necessary. If you do decide to go that route, after checking again to see if squaring the quilt is needed, I recommend using machine binding with a flange. There are tutes all over and honestly, I think for a child's quilt it is ideal. Much faster to apply, for those of us with arthritis in our hands. And it will be sturdier, needed for those quilts that will be loved and washed a lot - which I am sure this will be.

The baby isn't going to care that the quilt is wavy or anything. I would call it good and gift it. None of us are perfect. Very cute quilt by the way.

Your quilt is so cute and sweet! You know, I think I would just let it be, unless it bothers you a lot.

Adorable quilt but I have no idea of how to fix it. I thought maybe you put binding on before you quilted it but that is not the case per your answer to another QB member. It could possibly be quilted too tight but I don't think that it is that noticeable.
