Default Baby Quilt

Just finished a baby quilt. I did fusible baby animals. Free motioned the back ground and have the binding done. I did not sew around the fusible. It looks good but now I'm worried that I should have sewn around the edges. Any input?

IMHO...If it is to be washed much the fusible might come off.

As a baby quilt which is likely to be washed often I think it would be a good idea to at least go round the inside of each appliqué.

I think I will stitch around the edges with invisible thread. Thanks everyone - you just verified what I really was thinking.

You need to stitch down your appliqués. The fusible holds pieces in place for you to stitch- it washes away.

I’ve always thought the images should be sewn down. I just can’t imagine anything appliquéd and staying on a quilt/wall hanging without being sewn.

Please don’t use invisible thread on a baby quilt. If it wraps around a toe or a finger, it can be difficult to see.

Thank you momsbusy. You beat me to my response. Very dangerous on baby toes and fingers
if it starts to come loose

Interested in what fusible you use that washes away?

I might match the thread colour to the appliqué and stitch about 1/8 inside and let the edges fray.
