Just wanted to tell you how gorgeous your first quilt is and you are amazing to have undertaken this as your first.
Wonderful job. Ditto on all the backing info provided already. :-)

I just received a quilting book with this quilt in it. I'm tryng to get brave enough to start my 1st one and I've been quilting for about 10 yrs. Yours is beautiful.
I ask my customers to have things atleast 3-4" bigger for batting and backing all around. But once in awhile I get as small as 1 1/2". GRRR!!

If that is your first quilt, I can't wait to see what you'll produce with a few more under your belt. It's beautiful.

Buy some of the wide backing material that doesn't require any joining. Purchase about 4 inches bigger than the quilt if you quilt it yourself and about 6 inches bigger if it is done in a shop.

Your backing should be at least 4 inches larger than the top in order to make up for the shrinkage during quilting. Your top is wonderful, you are doing a great job for anyone, much less a brand new quilter. Look on the tutorials here to see what you can find for a little more help

OMGoodness....Thank Each of you for your nice comments...how sweet of you. Also Thank You for your suggestions on how to do the back. I have gotten the front borders on per instructions in the pattern and I WILL get the back done hopefully this next week...thats if life doesn't get in the way. I will post pictures when it is done.

I honestly don't know why the back has caused me such problems and made me second guess myself to even do it...when the front should of done that. I am such a follow instructions person and since the front had step by step instructions it was NO problem to do for me...but when the back had NO instructions I knew I was in trouble, thats why I turned to people here for help.

Thank You again for all your help and you have NO idea how much all your wonderful comments have made my days brighter.

Have a Wonderful weekend, Roseanna (Jazzmyn)

What an awesome quilt top ! I'm sure you are going to whip this out in no time. My instructor advised at least 2" on each side as well,But honey let me tell you you should be an instructor . If you can do this with your 1st quilt I will be very anxious to see the ones that follow. I am a pretty new quilter myself from Rio Rancho,NM and have made three or four quilts now but can't hold a candle to yours.
Congratulations on the good work.
