a Bargello flag question
Hi everyone: I have not been on here in a long time. I used to get the boards everyday, but something must have gone nuts on my end. anyway, I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I am trying to finish a pattern called Old Glory Bargello Flag and have all the rows ready to sew together, except that #5 in the assembly says: Sew together using 1/2 step, slip n slide starting with the Navy stars. Stitch in opposite directions, press seams in one direction. Now, I know how to press in one direction, but the sewing together using 1/2 step has me confused. Can anyone out there explain this to me? Thanks so much.

I suspect the 1/2 step means that you move the strips 1/2 the width/length of one square/rectangle. Take a look at the photo of the pattern to be certain. IOW move it up or down 1/2 a square. I think that will make it look more like the flag is flying.
