Default Bargello question

I'm going to attempt my first Bargello quilt sometime this winter. I'm planning on using pre-cut strip sets of Batik fabric. Is it recommended to starch the strips before sewing them?
Thanks for your input......TIA

I've found that batiks are much more tightly woven than other quilting cottons, so I don't think that I would starch them.

I wouldn’t starch and press before use—you could distort the fabric.

I've only made one bargello so far, but I only ever press to get wrinkles of of the fabrics, and if I'm using pre-cut strips, then none at all. As ArtsyOne said, batiks seem to be tighter in their weave then regular quilting cottons and as of yet, I haven't had a need to iron or press any that I've used.

I made one bargello, it came out nice and I did not starch the strips and they worked out well.

In my opinion, you don't need to press the strips. I have made over 20 Bargellos and I haven't starched any of the fabric. I always started with strips I have cut myself, but I don't think that should make a difference.

Bargellos are fun and adictive. I hope you enjoy the process.
