Default Basting Sprays...what NOT to use...

I used 505 for my first quilt basting on a queen sized and it has held up beautifully. Couldn't ask for better.

I found another basting spray on sale at my local shop yesterday made by a different company. I'm not sure I'm allowed to say what company? and perhaps I just got a dud, but it was useless. Luckily, I was just basting a small 40x60 quilt and not a queen-sized, because it just fell apart when I was done, hardly any stick at all. Had to start all over with a can of 505.

Lesson learned!

I would return the unused portion to the shop. If you just got a bad unit or if it doesn't work at all, in either case, a reputable owner would want to know.

I love 505 too! I used Hobbs fusible batting for a little while, but I found, with a large quilt requiring a lot of handling when quilting on a DSM, it didn't hold up. The 505 has never failed me. It is expensive, but saves SO MUCH TIME.

I tried Dritz and June Tailor before I discovered the 505. I only buy the 505 now. The others had too much sticky buildup on the needle. I spent more time fussing with it and getting frustrated. I don't have that problem at all with the 505. It might cost a little more upfront, but is worth it for me so I don't have to waste time and get frustrated while quilting.

I love my 505 spray. I can sandwich a quilt fold up and leave it to quilt another time with no problem. I watched a video where the person said she had left a quilt folded for years and she could still unpeel and quilt with no problems.
i don't leave mine years usually weeks.
i have tried other fabric spray glue but they dry and are not as flexible.

I always put a sheet under my quilt to be sprayed and I don't overspray, love 505. Anything bigger than my bed, I send to quilter.
