I live in NC, and I use the warm and natural for everything! It is a great weight here for all year round! Remember, in the summer we have a/c that can chill sometimes.

it gets cold and damp here and we are so much more south than NC -- also with AC, we use our quilts year round!!
We need different weights of quilts for different weather

People in the south are often more sensitive to cold, so use the same batting you would use for NY. The only quilt I made that was too warm was a denim quilt with flannel backing and polyester batting. It was too heavy and warm for FL, but works fine for a little further north.
