I found this on one The dimensions are typically 24" wide and the length is 25"-30" longer than the width of the mattress, so that there is a 12"-15" drop on each side of the bed.

Not sure if you got your answer, but I just got my catalog from Nancy's Notions and on p.49 there is a bed runner kit or just the pattern.

My aunt just made one of those. She did a queen sizred irish chain in two colors, then made it way shorter but same width and did the colors opposite from the matching quilt. It looks really classy. Maybe I can get her to send me a picture...

Whats this runner thing? One post said it was for warming feet, one said it covered the pillow, one said "down the side" (of what?) and another said it was a folded blanket. Googling it didnt help. Thank you

I understand that bed runners go across the foot of your bed.
Look up Bed "Runners Using Precut Fabrics" by House of White birches. Here's a link that will show you a picture
