Our quilt group uses sheets all the time - no problems. Just whichever ones we find.

Thanks for all your responses to my question! Sounds like other people had the same question or had other questions regarding using sheets for backings.

So, sheets it is...off to check out both Walmart and Target to see what sheets they have available.

I have used sheets for backing many times..it eliminates that seam in the back that you have to do for larger quilts..I always take a look when in a thrift store to see what sheets they have. and often find good ones there..for $2-3 most of the time......there won't be shrinking with these used ones........just look at them really good before you buy one, to be sure it isnt faded or has any holes............

I use thrift store sheets too. One advantage is, there are no surprises, I don't have to worry if it will pill, fade or shrink. I find Goodwill has the best sheets in my area. I am always on the look out for neutral ones for my stash.
