This fabric is perfect for applique - distinct motifs with space in between them. I would applique the birdhouses onto separate blocks with sashing in between, decorated with the individual birds and vines made of the leaves.

This is a very old art - cutting motifs from elaborate florals and appliqueing them onto whole cloth - broderie perse. :)

I vote for the broderie perse. It would be stunning. The fabric is perfect for that - so unusual!

How about making a sampler out of it and use it for the center piece, and find some fabric with birds on it for the boarder.

Apart from fussy cutting some bits for hexagon centres of quilt blocks, I would use it for borders or backing or pillow slips.
