Some people are certain that Joann's Kona isn't "real" Kona, but I am firmly of the opinion that Joann's Kona is the real deal - I buy it there and at Fabric.com all the time and they are indistinguishable from each other. You just have to catch it at a good price at Joann's, which isn't easy...whenever they have a good coupon, the tend to put their Kona on sale for $1 off or something so you can't use it. I caught it at 40% off last week and stocked up on a few colors.

That may very well be true at your JoAnn's. At mine, you have to make sure what they are calling Kona that week is actually on a Kaufman bolt to be sure that it's the 'real deal' because a lot of the time it clearly isn't. Not all JoAnn's are the same.

So I will qualify my statement and say that it's true at the 4 different Joann's I've visited within the past year, and at Joann.com.
Sounds like you live near a shady or sloppy Joann's. They certainly all aren't that way.

Sorry for butting in. I don't know the price of the fabric that your going to buy but Whittle's in Ky has this all the time for $5 and it is made by Mona. They have great fabric I order from them all the time $5 flat rate shipping and no tax of out of state. The best little secret thats been there for 40 years. They have a web site you can check what they have. And I know it's the same quality as what is in the quilt shops around mid Tn and Ky. But you can check it out might save you some money. And you know if it's cheaper means we can buy more.Have a great night.

Thousands of Bolts has Bella solids for $4.95 all the time and have ALL the colors. I purchased a Moda Bella color chart that I use to match colors when to order. They have fast shipping and great customer service as well.

And in my experience, I can say just the opposite! I washed my quilt top before quilting, using the gentle cycle, and the honey buns Kona raveled so badly I had to resew some of the seams to make them stronger.
