Best picture based quilting book for a beginner?
#1
I have a friend who is Vietnamese. Her English is actually pretty good, but she has difficulty reading and following instructions written in English. She wants to start quilting, already is a very good seamstress as she works in the alterations department at a local dry cleaners. A mutual friend gave her a copy of Georgia Bonesteel's Spinning Spools, and she was leafing through it yesterday and wants to give some of the patterns a go. I know they are fairly difficult, partly because that particular book was written before strip piecing and quick ways of doing half square triangles were made popular.
Can anyone point me to a book or magazine that would be a good choice for her? It needs to have lots and lots and lots of pictures, with little written instructions. We plan on getting together later - probably around Christmas - for some "hands on" lessons, but in the meantime, I'd love to give her something to get her started.
