Default best way to sandwhich and baste a quilt

Tell me how you do it. Or if there is a particularly helpful video on line that would be good.

Sharon Schamber is the best for explaining how to baste the quilt. Love her method!

I'm an Elmer's washable glue baster. It works well for me. Nothing is totally foolproof when quilting three layers together, but glue basting is the easiest and most effective method I've found. There are several threads on this you should check out!

I also gave up pin basting and thread basting for Elmer's washable school glue. Didn't like spray basting. Do search here for basting with Elmer's. lots of us like it. I did watch Sharon Shamber's method but that looked very cumbersome to me

I always pin baste but the next time I sandwich one, I'm trying the elmer's glue method.

I use my cutting table. Start in the center of the quilt with backing wrong side up and use binder clips to hold that to the table. Next is the batting which, when smoothed out, I clamp that down with the binder clips. Next the quilt top right side up and clamp that with the binder clips. I usually pin baste with pins about a hand-width apart in all directions. If it's a really large (queen/king) I might thread baste to reduce weight but use the same distances. Again, if it's a large quilt, once I get the center section done on my table, I'll shift the whole thing up/down/left/right until I get it all basted. The binder clips are the cats meow for me.
