Big Foot FMQ

I've been hearing about how hard FMQ is, bought a Big Foot on ebay (great deal 11.95) hooked it up and tried flowing around a butterfly on a potholder.
It isn't THAT bad, right out of the chute I had pretty even stitches.
I need to take a class to learn how to prevent the knots from backtracking and turning or whatever.
Anyhow, it was fun try.
I'm thinking about using FMQ after I SITD on the front of the quilt I'm working on now. I'm thinking I can turn it over and follow the flower outlines on the back.

The best way I've found to hide the starts and stops is to leave a longish tail of thread. Tie a knot and then thread them into the batting layer with a needle. Pull the thread taught and the knot will pop through the fabric and into the middle layer. Then you can trim off the extra thread. You'll never see the starts and stops if you do this instead of backtracking.
