HI,

First off, I am very new here, and even newer to quilting.... My mother however is a quilter from wayyyy back.

I have gotten it into my head (I don't know where from!!) to make my Mum a quilted wall haning for Christmas. I know she would be SO excited to see something that I have started and finished without having her finish it off for me.

Anyway, I am going great, I have got all my fabric assembled (washed dryed and ironed) but my instructions tell me to ;~

Cut one 1 1/2inch strip and crosscut two 1 1/2 x 10 inch strip and two 1 1/2 x 11 inch strips. (all of this is from 1/8 of a yard of fabric)

Can anyone help me with understanding what this means????

Thank you so much
Nicole

I think it means this:
Fold fabric selvage to selvage (the edges that have white or writing on them, or seem to be bound)
Then cut out your strip.
From the strip; sub-cut the other strips.
Hope this help and some of the more experianced here can help.

Thanks, I am so excited about doing this hanging that I have also decided to do a Christmas rag quilt for my MIL.

I am sure I will be back if I have any more problems.

Thanks again

Welcome from Illinois! A rag quilt is a fun way to start - lots of margin for error. You will have lots of help from the people on this board.
