Default Binding Fabric Question

I have always used width of fabric for my binding. I have no trouble putting them on and they come out great.

My question is---have any of you used length of fabric? I often have large pieces when I trim a quilt after quilting it on my HQ. There would be no stretch in the fabric and I wonder if that would cause a problem. Has anyone done this and was it successful? I am mainly a charity quilter and eager to use up all the fabric in a effort to avoid a bunch of scraps.

I have done length of fabric without any problems. In fact, I usually will do that if I want to enter the quilt in a show. The quilt seems to hang really nice.

I just use what I've got. Just making sure I have enough.

I have been using length of fabric for many years with no problem whatsoever.

In my some of my earlier quilts I cut the fabric lengthwise. I thought it is a waste of fabric. I cut my binding WOF, I like the bit of stretch and doesn't require long lengths of fabric.

all the time! it's a great way to use what you trim off the backing after quilting a quilt.

I tried it and it worked just fine. I end up with alot of fabric when I trim a quilt after longarming it. This is perfect to use up those leftovers.
