If you use a black light, it will help. They emit a purplish glow rather than white and help you to see. I have one on my longarm and I love it!

My only suggestion is to use a light and angle it close to the quilt so it casts a shadow on the thread. That is what I do when working with dark colors and it works, still a difficult task. Good luck!

Agree, must have excellent lighting; draw your pattern on with that thin white-leaded marking pencil. Good luck.
