    I think black and cream/tan is beautiful all alone. I think I would put a "zinger" in a black and white though.

    I did a black and white (with subtle purple) but added a couple "zingers" in the form of a small triangle of color, less than 3/4 of an inch in size, at a few corners of the blocks...maybe 5 or 6 in total... in red and in yellow....just enough to grab your eye and pull you into the whole quilt experience! Go for it! but keep it small.

    it is a personal taste.. Black and white can be quite beautiful but sometimes a splash of color is also nice.
