this response from the tech department:
"We do not have pop-up text ads running on Quilting Board. However, if people are seeing them they need to report the URL for the page, so that I can check out the link and try to investigate it more."
so, here's what we need to do:
1. if you see blue text that is double-underlined hover your cursor over the text, but do not click on it.
2. watch the lower left corner of your browser window. it that text is an embedded web link, a web address would normally appear in that corner. if it does, please write it down.
3. whether or not you can detect the target URL, please send the techs a link directly to that page so they can investigate.
send it by email to [email protected]
use the subject line: ATTENTION TECH SUPPORT. Suspicious Link on Board Page
it should be noted that this might be something related to browser security settings or something similar. i vaguely remember hearing of something like this having been reported many months ago. when Konstantin checked the pages in question his text did not contain the blue double-underlines. i checked them on my computer and didn't get them, either.
