Bobbins with not enough thread left to do a project

I have just started doing some English paper piecing (love it!) and the first part of the process is basting the fabric to the paper by hand. Instead of using thread from a spool, I decided to use thread from the bobbins that don't have enough left on them to do much else. I have another set of partially filled bobbins for a machine I no longer use. I'll use those up next. :D

What a wonderful idea! I have bobbins with thread on them and I don't think I still have the machine they fit. I also have several paper pieceing projects in the works. Tomorrow I will put my bobbins in my EPP box! Thanks for the idea! Sherry

Great idea! I always like to start with a full bobbin but I can't always do it. This way maybe I could! Thanks!

Great idea! I hate wasting thread and sometimes I unwind and toss. No more!

Any time I have handwork to do I do the same thing-find a bobbin with the right color thread.

when I'm making scrappy quilts I use my partial bobbins to piece with top and bottom on the machine. It uses them up and leaves me with empty bobbins.

In my little kit for hand sewing my bindings, I have a couple of needles, a little pair emb. scissors, my thimble, 2 hair clippies, 2 tiny straight pins, and a bobbin with the thread I will use.

I do a lot of EPP and use bobbin thread. I also put spools of thread that is nearly gone in my basket to use that up also. I was given several spools of some kind of thread that was marked 5 for a $1.00. Use that for basting also.
