    I love it! Using background fabric in center of squares really ties it all together. How big are you going to make it?

    In the patterns I've seen for this, the large squares were sewn with the background sashing, then the background fabric small squares were added with raw edge applique. Did you notice that there are no seams showing in the larger squares?

    Having the center squares the same as the background makes it seem like those large squares with the 'holes' in them are floating.

    This is really a great quilt pattern to begin with. You have taken it a step further. I say go for it and be very proud of your results!!

    I love it. They don't look like centers at all... they look like part of the background and the squares have a square hole in the middle. Love the 3-dimensional look of it. Different colored centers would 'flatten' it.
