Twisted Quilter

I don't know why, but I can't figure out how to make this quilt larger. I've made over 100 squares so I have enough to double the size but I can't seem to figure it out. Can someone please guide me? Simple instructions...I seem to be losing it lately.

Do you want to keep it square? If so you just a on point block to one side and the bottom. And trim as pattern shows.

If you want a rectangle..add more on point blocks to bottom (and/or top).

Maybe someone else has a better answer, this is how I understand your question.

How much bigger do you want to make it? When I enlarge a quilt like this, I add more rows to top and side to make it what I want it. The solid diamonds are 4" finished which on point finish 5.75", so take size you want and divide by 5.75 and you will know how many rows up and across you will need to make that size. It probably won't work out evenly inches wise but if it works out a little short, then add another row. On the diagram there are 7 rows across, so the middle, longest row diagonally uses 7 solids. Say you need 15 rows across, you will need 15 diagonally, whether the center row works out to be four patch or solid.

You can do it. If you need a visual, print out a grid and mark off as you sew. Have fun!!

You could add a Piano key border all round the pattern would be easy. The other ideas above are what I think I Personnally would do

This is when EQ comes in handy. How large do you want to make it?? Just make more vertical rows and add additional blocks for more length or would adding a border be sufficient. I know what you mean, sometimes it is like you hit a brick wall. I am having trouble with figuring out the best way to piece the backing for a quilt.

Do you have a border on it now? if you do you can add more borders, if not just follow the pattern and add to the sides and top and bottom. Laying it out on a design wall or the floor will help a lot.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. As soon as DH gets up I'm going to lay my blocks out again. Hopefully things will be a little clearer today and I can start sewing my rows together. This pattern finishes at 51 x 51 which is around a twin size. I wanted a full size.

Time to go shake the bed!

If you haven't put the boarder on just add a little to the lenght of each strip and and one or two rows to the width.

Keep adding rows of blocks to make it the size you want. As long as you finished with the solid (white) blocks so it can be trimmed, you will do just fine. This is a really nice pattern.
