Default brand of fabric

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all doing well this week? I'm wondering when you buy fabric do you get a popular brand name or have you bought some of these off brands? I've been going through the quilting sites this morning and have really liked some of the prints in a off brand fabric. I don't want to spend any money on something I wouldn't keep for myself. Since I can't drive due to my fractured pelvis thought I'd order fabric online plus it will be handy for me this winter. We live in a very small town so have to drive to Sioux City, Iowa or Omaha, Ne. to do shopping, so it would really be nice for the winter to order. How long does it take for your fabric to get to your home? Thanks a bunch. Marilyn43

I love all the local quilt shop brands - Moda, RJR, Bernartex to name a few. So many choices on ordering online but you may want to look at QB sale items for great deals first. I also belong to a number of online resale fabric groups where you can get some good deals.

Sorry about the fractured pelvis....ouch!!!!

Buying fabric online can be a crapshoot at best, as all manufacturers have fabrics that aren't the best quality and you can't personally check before purchasing. The best advice I can give you is to stay with a reputable company in hopes that if you do get a lesser quality fabric, they will work with you. I love the fabrics from connecting threads and they have excellent customer service.

I usually order manufacturers I know. If there's one that's new to me, I will order the minimum amount in a neutral color to see what the quality is like.

I have found buying fabric on-line to be a very positive experience. Fabric Shack ships very quickly with minimum shipping charges. Other fast shippers in my experience are Shabby Fabrics, Hawthorne Threads, and Thread Bear Fabrics. You will typically get a, 'your order has shipped' email from them the day after the order is placed, and then receive the fabric 2-3 days later. Other places take up to a week to ship the order, with delivery 2-3 business days later. Quilt Fabric Closeouts is another really fun place to shop. They cut and package their fabric beautifully.

The only bad experience I've had was with a place that never shipped the order and never replied to my emails of inquiry (I can't remember the name of this vendor). But I had paid using PayPal, and they refunded my money after I filed a complaint. I prefer ordering from places that offer PayPal as a payment option for this reason, plus you don't have to enter your credit info.

So sorry about your broken pelvis!!

Connecting Threads has beautiful fabric and it gets to my home within 4 days of ordering. It always has a tad more fabric in their quilt kits and they always answer any questions you might have. http://www.connectingthreads.com
Hope this helps - so sorry about your fractured pelvis.

I buy fabric on line 99% of the time, never got burned. Whittles Fabrics is a great place to shop, lots of brand names for $5.00 a yd. and low low price for shipping. They are located in Kentucky, and I get my order in less than a week!!

The fatquartershop.com has great fabric and I have never had one bit of trouble with them getting to me within days of ordering.

I also recommend the connecting threads site. Nice American made fabrics.

I have ordered from: Connecting Threads, Keepsake, and Fabric.com. I have been pleased with the fabric from each one.
