Default Brushed Cotton Bed Quilt - helpful hints?

Any helpful hints for making a bed quilt with brushed cotton? Should I cut it with the rotary cutter "pinking" blade like you would when cutting flannel? Do I have to pre-wash my brushed cotton fat quarters? The pattern is made of relatively big rectangles, no triangles or anything tricky (I'm a semi-beginner quilter). Thanks!

you can use your brushed cotton just like any other cotton. pre-wash if you are concerned with color bleeding or shrinkage- or if you generally pre-wash- that really is a personal choice. and I make 20+ flannel quilts every year- have never cut with a pinking blade= I always use my regular rotary cutter. if you find your 'brushed cotton' wants to slip you might want to starch it to make cutting easier-more accurate.

Brushed cotton has a short nap, similar to cordoruy but without the wales and not as long. It's super soft and smooth and feels wonderful when used for a quilt. I treat it the same as regular cotton. It's "brushed" to remove the excess lint, so it shouldn't be any lintier than regular cotton.

Thanks! I'm ready to get started -- I got the fabric at the Houston Quilt Show, so I'm definitely inspired!
