I have the 6600 and love it. I had a viking before and a bernina before that. This has been my favorite. Speed, dependable...

The Elna would be my choice of those two machines
I used to have and Elna but am now sold 110% on Vikings/Husquvarnas for over 20 years now
Good luck deciding

There is a yahoo group for Janome 6500/6600 owners. I think you might find it very helpful to join and monitor the discussions...ask questions.

I bought a Janome 6600 in February (not realizing that a newer model would be coming out soon...but it would have been more than double the price). So far I am very happy with it.

Hi Dawnfire: I baught a Janome 6260 in 2003 & I love it. I use it an awful lot. Always quilting or should I say piecing. I always take it with me to Retreats or workshops. So it has bounced along in the car too. I also have a Singer Featerweight, that I really like. Eva

Janome and Elna are similar. Usually parts that fit one will fit the other. I have a Elna quilters dream which is great.I also have a Brother and a Bernina and I find they are all good machines. It tends to be a case of what you pay for is what you get, and how you look after them.

Some Janome machines ie 6600P are high shank machines I dont know what the Elna is but not all feet will fit so not always compatible between machines

ShelleyJ - Can you tell me what you liked in the 6600 over the Bernina? I am looking at both of them. Thanks.

I have had an Elna SU for about 36 years...same model, just a few years newer than the one my mom has had for 43 years!!! Both are still going strong. My mom, my sister and I all sewed clothing on hers, and my dad did quilting on it for 30 years before he passed. I sewed 8-10 hours, 6 days a week for my bread and butter for about 20 years on mine. Now I am quilting with it. As long as it keeps running, I will hang onto it. My "dream" machine is the Bernina 830. That will be my gift to me from my mom after she passes.

There are so many good choices out there now, you will have such fun making your decision!!!
