Jan, I just got referred to your thread here by misskira because I just asked many of the same questions. Your posts and answers are wonderful! Your choice to honor your Mom and your precious memories by reinstating a 201-2 just brought tears to my eyes! Hope you fell in love with your new pal!

I just measured my 201. the space from needle to post is 7 15/16th...just a bit UNDER 8".

The 201 is straighter and is about 9" wide at the widest point and about 5½" tall.

I have 2 Singer 15's and I would buy another one! I gotmy first one 37 yrs for $20. Got a quilt under it now. Don't think you can go wrong either machine though. I appreciate the choice you made, honoring your mother, something you will never regret.

I have both. Love them both. For piecing, the 201. For quilting, the 1941 15. Both of them just sing. By the way, I'm unsure what model 15 I have. Anyone know of a site that will tell me from the serial number?

I have both machines they both are great for fmq! I don't know why people keep saying the 201 is less capable of free motion. Both machines are fast and smooth. The 201 is even more quiet!

I have a 15-91, it makes a great stitch! I use it for FMQ love it. I bought a Bernina 750QE recently and I have to say I am a better sewer because of it.
