Buying a new Machine: Husqvarna Vs Pfaff
Hello,
I have been researching sewing machines for a while now. I think i have narrowed it down to the Husqvarna Opal 650, Jade 20, Pfaff ambition 620. I was wondering you any of you had any advice, tips or comments!
I'm looking to do some quilting, general sewing and sew with heavy fabrics like canvas. I would say I am a beginner/intermediate sewer. I'm looking for a machine that will grow with me and last for a while as well.

I'm a Pfaff person myself, I love the IDT system, currently have a Select 3.0 (backup), Passport 2.0 (travel) and the Performance 5.0 (favorite). Whatever you choose enjoy.

I have to agree with Nannie. Cheryl not only has the MC6650 but she also inherited my mother's Janome/New Home machine that Mom bought well over 30 years ago. It still runs as well as it did when it came out of the box.

Do you have good dealer support for both brands in your area?
Of the two, I would favor Pfaff over H/V, but I personally own a Janome and an Elna (Janome twin) and would consider the Janome 6600 or 6700 (not the 6650 since it does not have AcuFeed, which is the built-in "walking foot capability" available).

I'm a Pfaff girl! My daughter bought the Ambition 620 and loves it. The duel feed is amazing. She is a quilter and has been sewing since she was a kid.....My girls can all sew. She says it is the best machine she has ever used. I have a Pfaff ICON and love it. I have had a Pfaff for the last 25 years and am totally sold on the brand.

I have a Husqvarna/Viking Designer Topaz 20 - it sews thru so many layers of denim I couldn't believe it. When I was visiting my friend in AZ she was sewing thru various fabrics making a pool/awning thing and her Bernina wasn't going thru it and so I said to try my Designer. It sent thru with no hesitation. I don't sew much using denim or any heavy fabrics - I have the Designer for it's embroidery ability. But a few times it came in handy.
