The Ann the Gran site has lots of free designs, but you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay for a design from Embroidery Library and get something that will stitch out nicely. They often have designs for $1.
I like EmbroideryLibrary also; their designs and lessons, but the stitch count of some designs borders on the ridiculous. I've started searching other sites, I'm sorry to say. Would have loved the new jungle animal designs....oh, well.
I, too, like Embroidery Library - and you are right the stitch count or density needs to be adjusted. I actually broke a needle on one pattern because it became so "bullet-proof" with the stitching. A QB member (sorry her name doesn't come to me this second) mentioned enlarging the pattern a little in editing software but set to maintain the stitch count - not letting it increase along with the enlarging of the pattern. Haven't tried that yet but will be.
Otherwise, I love their stuff and their tutorials are fabulous, so explicit and easy to follow.

I had the same trouble with a couple of Emb Lib designs, but their designs are so pretty, and others have done just fine. I hadn't thought about increasing the size...will have to try it!

I love Embroidery Library, Bunnycup Embroidery for applique, Dainty Stitches, Designs by Juju to name a few. I belong to a Brother Yahoo group and a Baby Lock yahoo group. I get tons of info from them.

I also love Juliasneedledesigns.com and Misty Mountain. The new designs are offered at a low price, many times for a dollar and emails are sent to remind you!

Another one I like is EmbroideryDK - the membership I have is $6/mo and she has a huge inventory of patterns - also some are in "family" collections. I think someone else mentioned $9/mo - that is if she sends you an email "with the new patterns included." With the $6/mo, she sends me an email that says new patters are available and I go check them out. They are easy to download and stitch out very well.

HAHA
yeah I know, for the most part I have the divided into
categories such as:
infant/baby
children
cat
dog
butterfly
floral
Names
Monograms
etc

I think i have about 50-75 different categories so if I
know what I am looking for I just open that folder only.

However my one exception to that rule is that FSL bookmarks
are separate from all other bookmarks and/or FSL. (I make
a lot of FSL bookmarks).

I even add personalization to some quilts for that added extra
touch.

I absolutely LOVE FSL (free standing lace)
designs and have been slowly working on
getting some inventory made so that I can
get them posted on my online studio to sell.

The other two design sites I really like are:

A Design in Stitches http://www.adesigninstitches.net/
at $45 per year it is not a bad deal for unlimited downloads
at least in my opinion.

DK Embroidery http://www.embroiderydk.com/
this site has great quality designs, but it can be some
what costly. I purchased a yearly membership last
year but it has since expired and right now it is just
not in my budget to renew my annual membership.
They do have monthly memberships and the one I
prefer is the $9 per month (don't remember annual cost)
but with the listed cost above you get an email WEEKLY
with all the new design attached.

There are MANY websites to get designs from and
many of these websites have limited free designs
each day, week or month. As far as the BEST quality
free designs (which are done monthly) is at embroidery
library (so far that I have found).

At this current time I have OVER 90,000 designs with
about 75-80% being names in 2 different font styles.

I was looking for something and found this embroidery site list. oh my goodness, i think everysite on the web is listed here. I just took a quick look around, maybe someone here might be interested. www.oocities.org/sewmuchfun/page2.html

another site that no one has mentioned is www.pixiesrule.com she has a very affordable membership of $5/month , she sends you freebies and her pattern prices are so affordable and very cute. I have some of her snowcharms and snowelves embroidered, very cute. I sure like this post too, great info on here.
